Avengers: Endgame has set the opening night record in North America with ticket sales reaching $60 million. This beats Star Wars: The Force Awakens $57 million in 2015. It has also beaten the record for the number of screens a film in the U.S. opens on with over 4,600.
The film has also set opening day records in China and the U.K. At this rate it could be the first movie to have a $300 million opening weekend at the U.S. box office and pass $1 billion world-wide by the end of Sunday. With strong reviews and good word of mouth there is a chance that Avengers: Endgame could be the first film to pass Avatar‘s $2,788 billion international ticket sales.
