The casting of The Suicide Squad is well underway and now James Gunn has his Ratcatcher. Portuguese actress Daniela Melchior won the role which will clearly be different to the comic book source material. In the comic books, Otis Flannegan is the Ratcatcher, a pied-piper-esque Batman villain, who control rats to commit crime.
Gunn has gender swapped the character and, being a D-list villain, the name could be all he is using. Melchior’s Ratcatcher joins a returning cast that will include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and new members played by John Cena and Idris Elba. Viola Davis is also returns as Amanda Waller.
The Suicide Squad, which Gunn is writing and directing, goes into production later this year and is aiming for an August 2021 release.
