Universal have claimed 7th April 2023 as the release date for the next installment in the ‘Fast’ franchise. The 7th and 8th films in the series were also released over this weekend in 2015 and 2017 with both earning over $1 billion internationally.
It is thought that Universal have quietly set the date so Vin Diesel can do a loud announcement on social media at a later date. ‘F9’ was released earlier this summer and in the highest grossing American film of the Covid era. Justin Lin returned to the franchise as director with that film after helming parts 3, 4, 5, and 6 and will be returning to oversee 10.
No cast or storyline have been announced but is expected that Diesel, Jordan Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Michelle Rodriguez and Jason Statham to star. One person who will not be returning is Dwayne Johnson who has openly said he is done with the main franchise.
