Boba Fett’s Slave I Officially Renamed

It has been rumoured for a while and now Lucasfilm have quietly but officially renamed Boba Fett’s classic ship Slave I to remove its problematic name.

News of the name being changed started when a new Lego set listed the craft as ‘Boba Fett’s Starship’ but as this was a licensed product there was debate over if this was official.

This name change now appears to have been confirmed by Lucasfilm as a variant cover by Paolo VIllanelli for the comic series ‘War Of The Bounty Hunters’ names the ship as Firespray.

Boba Fett and Firespray

While the name change may be jarring for some, the ship was never been referred to by name on screen so casual fans won’t even notice. For hard-core fans, giving it the name ‘Firespray’ should soften the blow as this as always been the ship’s model.

So far this name change is only on a comic cover so it is still very low key. We will have to wait until the name is said in live action, most likely in ‘The Book Of Boba Fett’, for it to become set in stone.
