James Earl Jones, the main voice of Darth Vader since 1977, has officially signed over his voice rights to Lucasfilm and retired from physical voicing the character. His last actual performance was for ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’.

An article in Vanity Fair reveals that Jones’ voice will now be recreated artificial from archive material by Ukrainian company Respeecher. Their A.I. technology has already created dialogue for Vader in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ as well as the young Luke Skywalker in ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Book Of Boba Fett’.

Lucasfilm sound editor Matthew Wood demonstrated Respeecher’s capabilities to Jones and the actor agreed that this was the direction to go with the character.
