Miramax have outbid the rivals to get their hands on the television rights to the Halloween franchise. The deal was signed with Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films to develop and co-produce a TV series based on the property. Akkad is the son of Moustapha Akkad who produced the original Halloween.
Miramax already own the film rights to the franchise and this now sets up the possibility of potential launchpad for a new Halloween cinematic universe spanning film and television. Miramax’s Head of Global TV Marc Helwig will be overseeing the franchise creatively in close collaboration with Akkad.
