
George Lucas’ heir apparent, Dave Filoni, has been named Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm.
Filoni has been at Lucasfilm since he was handpicked by Lucas to work on the The Clone Wars two decades go and has been the people’s choice to creatively lead the company for a number of years. He will now be involved in all Star Wars projects from their inception.
In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways.

Filoni will now be working alongside Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and head of development Carrie Beck.
I’m not telling people what to do. But I do feel I’m trying to help them tell the best story that they want to tell. I need to be a help across the galaxy here, like a part of a Jedi Council almost.

This summer saw Lucasfilm release Ahsoka, which was created by Filoni, and he will be writing and directing a film, involving the characters from The Mandalorian universe of shows, which is expected to be released in December, 2026.
