Melissa Barrera has reportedly been fire from Scream VII following a series of controversial social media posts in the wake of the Israel-Hamas War. Spyglass, Scream franchise producers, had no comment.
Barrera was the face of the successfully relaunched franchise, taking the lead in both Scream and Scream VI, with her character of Sam Carpenter having a direct link back to the original film.
Christopher Landon is directing on the new film which will now have to be rewritten. Fortunately for Landon, rising star Jenna Ortega is already the second lead of the franchise and, if Spyglass are prepared to pay the money, Neve Campbell might be persuaded to return. Production on the film had also been delayed due to the Hollywood strikes.
