Universal are looking to inject new life into one of their most profitable franchises by putting a new Jason Bourne film into development. They are looking to Edward Berger, who helmed the recent adaptation of All Quiet On The Western Front, to oversee the development process and direct what would be the sixth film in the franchise. At the moment there is no writer attached.
Franchise star Matt Damon is currently not involved in the project and it is unclear if this would be a continuation of his films or something else. It has been reported that Damon would be approached once the script has been locked down.
In the past, Damon has indicated that he would only return to the franchise if Paul Greengrass, who directed three of his four films, also returned.
