The rumour that The Mandalorian will be jumping to the big screen soon than you think is heating up.
On the Hot Mic podcast with Jeff Sneider and John Rocha, Sneider stated that “the odds are in its favor” of plans for the fourth season of The Mandalorian being retooled to fit a film. Jon Favreau had previously stated that all the scripts for the season had been completed but it looks like this may have changed.
Lucasfilm has a desire to turn Star Wars back into a movie lead franchise and move away from a reliance on steaming. The amount of pre-production required for features would mean that converting The Mandalorian into a movie would provide them with a creative short cut in both design and production with crew that is ready to go and familiar in making Star Wars.
With the previous announcement that there will be two Star Wars films in 2026, this could mean that The Mandalorian film could take the summer slot with the Daisy Ridley lead Jedi film taking the now traditional Christmas release.
