‘The Blob’ Being Remade Again

’50s B-movie classic, The Blob, in being lined up for a second remake. David Bruckner, who was behind the Hellraiser remake, is attached to write and direct.

Steve McQueen starred in the 1958 original, which had a 1972 sequel, Beware! The Blob. Chuck Russell directed the first remake, starring Kevin Dillon, in 1988.

The new film will be a reimagining but details are under wraps. The original’s concept was about a red gelatinous blob from outer space that consumed everything that it came in contact with. Landing in a small Pennsylvania, the more it ate the more it grew, sucking in all human life around it. The film is considered a B-movie classic.

David Goyer and Keith Levine are producing, with Judith Harris serving as executive producer. Harris, the rights holder, is the widow of Jack Harris, producer of the ’58 and ’88 films.
