Paramount are finally moving forward on a new Star Trek film from writer Seth Grahame-Smith. The film is going to be directed by Toby Haynes, who is best known for helming a number of Andor episodes, and will be produced by J.J. Abrams through Bad Robot.

The film is being described as an expansion of the Star Trek universe that will take place decades before Abrams’ 2009 film.

The film will be Haynes’ feature film debut but he previously directed the Star Trek inspired USS Callister episode of Black Mirror.

This would be the first Star Trek film since 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, a sequel to which is still said to be in the works.
