Sébastien Vaniček, director of French spider horror Infested, has been picked by Sam Raimi to co-write and direct a spin-off film for the Evil Dead franchise.
Raimi directed the first three films in the franchise, starting with the original in 1981. The trilogy starred Raimi’s friend Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams who had to fight various supernatural enemies. Campbell reprised the role in the popular Ash Vs Evil Dead series in the late 2010s. Last year saw the realise of Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise which was both a critical and commercial success.
Fede Alvares also directed a well received remake/reboot of the first film in 2013.
No details have been release about the new film so it is unknown which part of the franchise that it will be connected to.
