James Gunn final started filming on Superman: Legacy, the first film in the new DCU, and he announced via Threads that the film now has a new, simpler title.
The film will now be called Superman, making it the first film to carry that name. The 1978 film’s full title was Superman: The Movie.
When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025. Happy Birthday, Clark!
