James Gunn and Peter Safran have put a Teen Titans film into development at DC Studios.

The film will be written by Ana Nogueira, who is already writing Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow for the studio.

The Teen Titans are the original teen superhero team, debuting in The Brave And The Bold in 1964, and getting their own series in 1966. The team was made up of the sidekicks of the main DC heroes and included Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad and Wonder Girl.

The series came into its own when it was reinvented in the 1980s by Marv Wolfman and George Perez as the New Teen Titans. It became DC’s best selling title and was only out sold by Marvel’s X-Men. Wolfman and Perez created Cyborg, Raven and Starfire as well as adding Beast Boy to the team and this is the line-up that has successfully been adapted to multiple animated shows and a live action series that ran for four seasons.

DC Studios are currently looking for a director for the film.
