Marvel’s big announcement during their ComicCon presentation was that Robert Downey Jr will be returning to the MCU but not as Tony Stark.
Walking out at the end of the presentation, Downey revealed that he would be taking on the role of Doctor Doom for the next two Avengers films. The fifth Avengers is now titled Avengers: Doomsday and it will lead into Avengers: Secret Wars. To two films will bring Marvel’s Multiverse Saga to an end. There was no word on whether the actor would also be reprising the role of Iron Man in the films.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in May, 2026.
