Columbia Pictures are in talks with Paul Rudd and Jack Black for a new take on the 1997 Jennifer Lopez “classic” Anaconda.
The new film will be co-written and directed by Tom Gormican, who was behind the Nicolas Cage meta-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
This reimaging of the franchise will see a group of friends facing mid-life crises who are remaking their favourite movie from their youth, Ananconda. They head to the rainforest, only to find themselves in a fight for their lives against natural disasters, giant snakes and violent criminals.
Black and Rudd will be playing a man stuck in his job as a wedding videographer and sets out to direct this ‘remake’ and a former TV actor whose Hollywood dreams are slipping further away.
The film is said to be in development since 2023.
