Nikyatu Jusu, director of Sundance hit Nanny, is developing The Fly, a new take on the classic sci-fi/horror story.
The film, whose story details are currently under wraps, is said to be set in the same world as David Cronenberg’s body horror classic rather than a direct remake. Cronenberg’s 1986 masterpiece starring Jeff Goldblum was itself a reimagining of the 1957 film of the same name starring Vincent Price. Both previous films had sequels.
Jusu, who will write and direct the new film, also has a remake of Night Of The Living Dead in the works and her untitled next film, which is an extension of her acclaimed story film, Suicide by Sunlight, is said to be about day-walking Black vampires who are protected from the sun by their melanin.
