Nosferatu helmer Robert Eggers will be taking control of Labyrinth 2 for Sony.
No plot details have been released but he film will be a direct sequel to Jim Henson’s 1986 fantasy musical starring Jennifer Connelly and the late David Bowie, not a reimagining or a remake. Eggers will write the script with Sjón, his collaborator on the Viking epic The Northman. Chris and Eleanor Columbus will produce alongside Lisa Henson, with Brian Henson executive producing.
Eggers next film will be Werwulf for Focus Features and then he will move onto the Labyrinth sequel. The film will be the director’s first step into the world of family entertainment following a career built on dark horrors.
