Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen has joined the cast of DC Studios’ Lanterns series as the supervillain Sinestro.
The series, describe as inspired by True Detective, will follow rookie Green Lantern John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) who is partnered by Corps legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as they are drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Sinestro is a fallen Green Lantern, and former mentor of Jordan, who goes onto form the Yellow Lanterns, a group of villains powered by fear.
The cast also includes Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry; Garret Dillahunt as modern cowboy William Macon; and Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe, a potential love interest for John.
Thomsen is well-known for his work on Banshee, The Blacklist, and Danish series Trom.
