Barbarian director Zach Cregger will write and direct a new take on the Resident Evil video game. The new film will not be connected to the six Milla Jovovich films, the 2021 reboot, or the Netflix series.
The new film will be produced by Constantin Film, the company behind all the previous films, and Playstation Productions.
It is being reported that Cregger’s take will the property back to it’s horror roots that were established back in the 1996 video game.
Cregger, who began in comedy, has been seen as Hollywood’s new face of horror since the release of cult hit Barbarian in 2022. His first major film as a producer, the horror thriller Companion, is released on 31st January.
