We already knew that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to Marvel to star as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday but now the studio has revealed the rest of the cast in a video to announce the start of production.
Among the big surprises are Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen returning as Professor X and Magneto from the Fox X-Men films. Also coming back from the X-Men films are James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Alan Cuming (Nightcrawler) and Kelsey Grammer (Beast).
Another surprise is Tenoch Huerta Mejía back as Namor. The actor had been accused of sexual misconduct in June 2023, which he denied, and had effectively been cancelled since then.
In total, 27 actors were announce but it’s rumoured Marvel my have surprises up their sleeve.
The other actors announced were Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby’s (Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Danny Ramirez (Falcon), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Lewis Pullman (Sentry), David Harbour (Red Guardian), and Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost).
The Russo brothers are directing the film which will be released on 1st May, 2026.
