Apple are moving forward with sequel to the WWII naval war film Greyhound with Tom Hanks set to return to star. The plan is to start shooting next January in Australia.
Hanks will reprise his role as Captain Krause and has also written the script for the new film. The original film’s director, Aaron Schneider, is also back as is producer Gary Goetzman for Playtone.
Greyhound, released in 2020, saw an inexperienced captain and crew escorting a convoy across the Atlantic while being stalked by a German submarine wolf pack. The new film will follow the same crew from the Normandy landing to the Pacific theatre.
Talks are taking place with the key cast from the first film to return. Cheif amoung them was Stephen Graham, who has just received stellar reviews for Netflix hit Adolescence. The expectation is that the main players will be back.
Hanks and Goetzman also teamed up with Amblin on WWII series Masters of the Air for Apple TV+.
