Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is attached to direct a new film adaptation of the 2000AD character Judge Dredd. Also attached is scriptwriter Drew Pearce, best known for Fall Guy and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
Waititi and Pearce are friends and have been looking for a project to work on together and both grew up reading the 2000AD comics.
The character has already been adapted twice by Hollywood. The first time was in 1995’s failed Sylvester Stallone blockbuster. The second was the critically acclaimed Dredd starring Karl Urban and written by Alex Garland but this was even more of a commercial failure.
It is being reported that this new version will be closer to the comic book origins but no official details have been released.
