The Children Of The Corn film series, based on a Stephen King short story, is a delightful cornucopia of horror that has given audiences a reason to rethink going wandering of into a field. Imagine a small town where children take agricultural recommendations a bit too seriously; they decide that the corn isn’t just for eating but for plotting a cultish uprising. Each film is a rollercoaster of dread and often unintended hilarity. You can practically hear the filmmakers whisper, “Let’s take the scariest concept we can think of—what if kids had a bad crop of corn—and see how far it goes!” Spoiler alert: it goes very far, mostly into a corn maze of madness where innocent adults find themselves being sacrificed to the staple food.

As the series traverses from the original 1984 film to its umpteenth sequel or remake, it gets harder to believe that corn can be this terrifying.
