
Oscar winner Kate Winslet looks to be heading to the Shire as part of Andy Serkis’ new Lord Of The Kings film.
Winslet is in talks for an undisclosed role in the The Hunt For Gollum which will see Serkis reprising his role of Gollum from Peter Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy as well as directing. The actress also has history with Peter Jackson, having starred in his film Heavenly Creatures at the start of her career.
The new film will bridge the two Jackson Tolkien trilogies and feature Aragorn and Gandalf searching for Gollum. It will be produced by Peter Jackson along with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.
Ian McKellen will return as Gandalf and it is also thought that Elijah Wood will be back as Frodo in some capacity. The role of Aragon will be recast as Vigo Mortensen has declined to opportunity to reprise the role.
The film has a release date of 17th December, 2027.
