
The details of Joseph Kosinski’s new Miami Vice film have been confirmed with the film now titled Miami Vice ’85. It is official that Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler will play Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs and Sonny Crockett, the roles played by Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson in the original TV show and by Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell in Michael Mann’s 2006 film.
As suggested by the title, the film will be a period piece and is inspired by the show’s pilot and first season and has a release date of 6th August, 2027. Joseph Kosinski will direct from a script by Dan Gilroy.
Miami Vice, which followed the adventures of two undercover Miami police officers, was created by Anthony Yerkovich and ran from 1984 t0 1990. The show was executive produced by Michael Mann.
