Bendis Launches His Leviathan DC Event in June

June sees Brian Michael Bendis take on a DC event for the first time. He took control of the Superman lines in the middle of last year and has been sowing the seeds for Leviathan the recent issues of Superman and Action Comics. The art will be by his frequent collaborator Alex Maleev.
The title will be the flagship for DC’s Year of the Villain.

Leviathan is a criminal organisation within the DC Universe that was created by Grant Morrison and he used them as the main antagonists during is Batman run. At the end of that arc they were revealed to be an offshoot of the League of Assassins and were led by Talia al Ghul.

The cover of the first issue shows a mysterious figure taking on Batman, Green Arrow and Vic Sage version of The Question. Interestingly, this is a line-up of heroes that Dennis O’Neil put together in the late 80s in a story that also featured Talia. Whether Bendis is calling back to this era we will have to wait and see.
