Jaume Collet-Serra, who has just finished directing Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’, looks set to reteam with Johnson and helm ‘Black Adam’ the upcoming DC Comics follow up to ‘Shazam!’. The Spanish director is probably best known for his collaborations with Liam Neeson which include ‘Unknown’ and ‘The Commuter’.
In the comic books, Black Adam is a ancient Middle-Eastern prince who was the first to possess the powers of Shazam! and became corrupted by the magic. He has been portrayed as a villain and an anti-hero and has been a member of the Justice Society of America.
The character was at one point to have been in ‘Shazam!’ movie but the studio and producers ultimately decided he warranted his own movie. The film does not have a release date.
