Top 5 MCU Projects That Could Bring Back Chris Evans’ Captain America

After saying he was done with the MCU, it has been reported that Chris Evans has signed on to play Captain America in at least on more project.  We have no information on what that project could be or how, why, where, or when he could return. With the explosion of MCU content we are about to get, in both the cinema and on Disney+, he could turn up anywhere. The only problem is the last time we saw Steve Rogers in the present day MCU he was an old man. Here are our top choices for where he will show up.

5. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Season 2

This would be an obvious choice as the series is about Cap’s legacy and stars two of his supporting characters. With the first season now shot, unless his return is a Luke Skywalker size secret, it is unlike we will see him on the show this year. A second season is yet to be confirmed but must surely be on the cards and this is where he could make his comeback somehow. How he is there would be a harder question to answer.

4. Black Panther 2

Black Panther had been set up as Steve Rogers replacement in the MCU. Unfortunately, due to Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death and Marvel respectfully deciding not the recast the role, ‘Black Panther 2’ is now without it’s lead character. Black Panther and Cap were portrayed in the MCU as having a deep respect for each other. If Marvel were to have a different character become the new Black Panther then having Cap on hand in Wakanda to gives his blessing would help with the audience with acceptance. Explaining how Cap was there would be a little more tricky

3. Loki Season 2

Like ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’, the first season of Loki is in the can. Unlike ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’, a second season has already been confirm. In ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Loki briefly took the form of Captain America. Loki is a trickster and what better way to trick Americans than to pretend to be their favourite superhero. It would be interesting to see Evans play a Loki version of Cap.

2. Secret Invasion

The ‘Secret Invasion’ comic series involved shape changing Skrulls taking the identities of heroes. The MCU has already changed this slightly by making the Skrulls the good guys in the Kree/Skrull wars but it could be a rogue faction of Skrulls that are trying to take over. Having a Skrull take the form of a young Cap would be an easy way to explain why he is there.

1. Nomad

In the comics, Nomad was an alternate identity that Steve Rogers created when he didn’t want to be Captain America anymore. At the end of last year it was reported that Marvel Studios were developing a ‘Nomad’ project and at the start of this year it’s reported that Evans is returning. If you put these two facts together this looks like the most likely option.

The last time we saw young Cap he had travelled back to the 50s to spend his life with Peggy Carter. Steve Rogers can’t be Cap in the 50s because it would disrupt the timeline. What if Marvel made a series of period spy films where Steve adopts the Nomad title and goes on adventures with Peggy. That way Chris Evans could carry on playing the Steve Rogers character and it wouldn’t mess with the stories that have been told in MCU.
