Ta-Nehisi Coates, the award winning nonfiction writer with highly regarded runs on ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Captain America’ for Marvel Comics, will be handling the scripting duties on a new ‘Superman’ movie. J.J. Abrams will be producing.
To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor. I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.
Ta-Nehisi Coates
There is a new, powerful and moving Superman story yet to be told. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with the brilliant Mr. Coates to help bring that story to the big screen, and we’re beyond thankful to the team at Warner Bros. for the opportunity.
J.J. Abrams
There is no word on the plot or casting and no director is attached but Coates’ statement mentions the DCEU so there is still a possibility that Henry Cavill will return. It is also thought that this will tie into the other DC films and not be stand-alone like ‘The Batman’.
