Bassem Tariq is Marvel Studios choice to helm their upcoming relaunch of ‘Blade’. Mahershala Ali is set to star as the vampire slayer and Stacy Osei-Kuffour is on board to write the script.
The new ‘Blade’ was a surprise announcement at the 2019 Comic Con but news on the project has been sparse over the last two years. Tariq coming on to the project now makes it likely we will see the film in 2023.
The director is best known for 2020’s ‘Mogul Mowgli’, starring Riz Ahmed, that was nominated for Best British film at the BAFTAs.
Marvel Studios have yet to comment.
