‘Cobra Kai’ star Xolo Maridueña is in talks to play the lead in Warner Bros, HBO Max, and DC Films’ ‘Blue Beetle’.
He will take on the role of Jaime Reyes, a Mexican-American teenage, who discovers a piece of alien technology that looks like a scarab beetle. The beetle is sentient and fuses itself to Reyes spine giving him the ability to form a highly advanced suit of armour around himself.
The film, which is being made exclusively for HBO Max, will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. It will mark the first time a Latino character has headlined a comicbook movie.
