HBO Max are developing a ‘Black Canary’ film, that will spin out of ‘Birds Of Prey’, exclusively for their streaming service. Jurnee Smollett has confirmed on twitter that she will be reprising the title role.
The film will be written by Misha Green, who has previously worked with Smollett on ‘Underground’ and ‘Lovecraft Country’, but no other details have been confirmed so it is unclear if any of the other cast members of ‘Birds Of Prey’ will return.
In the comics Black Canary has been the long time partner of Green Arrow so there is a chance the Emerald Archer could be making the jump to films.
HBO Max now have a large amount of DC projects in development which include ‘Batgirl’, ‘Blue Beetle’, a Michael B. Jordan ‘Superman’ series, a Gotham set police show, and a ‘Green Lantern’ saga.
