‘Batgirl’ co-director Adil El Arbi announced, via Instagram, that the DC superhero film has started filming.
El Arbi posted a picture of a clapper board that features the film’s logo on it with the caption “Day One” but that’s not all, the photo also includes some hints about what to expect from the upcoming film.
The big thing is there is a name plate that says “Officer Barbara Gordon” implying that there will be a big change to the character’s comic book origin. While Barbara’s father is the police commissioner, she has never been a serving police officer in the main continuity.
There is some tinsel which hints that the film will be set at Christmas. This makes sense as this is most likely when the film will be released.
Poking out from under the desk are the handles of what could be a wheelchair or walking frame which could mean Gordon’s Oracle identity may be making an appearance.
On the desk there is a copy of Simon Singh’s ‘The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography’ meaning that there is most likely a deep mystery in the film.
And here’s the long shot, could the ball of yarn suggest there might be a Catwoman cameo.
The film is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Leslie Grace is starring as Barbara Gordon with J.K. Simmons returning as James Gordon and Brendan Fraser thought to be playing Firefly.
‘Batgirl’ will be released exclusively on HBO Max next year
