
Oscar winner Nicolas Cage is set to star in his first major studio film in a decade having signed on to play Dracula in Universal’s ‘Renfield’. Nicolas Hoult has already been cast in the title role of this latest Universal Monsters film which in being directed by Adam McKay.
The character of Renfield is a servant/henchman of Dracula from the original Bram Stoker novel but will be the focus of this film with Dracula being a supporting role. The script is being written by Ryan Ridley from an idea by ‘The Walking Dead’ creator Robert Kirkman.
Cage was a mainstay of cinema from the late 80s to the early 2000s but has not starred in a major film since 2011’s ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance’. He won the best actor Oscar for 1995’s ‘Leaving Las Vegas’.
