The big question going into ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was what is the future of the franchise. Marvel Studios are in a situation where there have the borrow their own character back from Sony Pictures, due to a licensing deal signed back in 1999, and many thought that this film would be Marvel’s last before Sony took full control of the character again.
Marvel fans were give hope that Spidey would be staying in the MCU earlier this month when franchise producer Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal said that not only was a fourth MCU Spider-Man film with Tom Holland being developed, but that it would potentially launch a new trilogy. After a brief moment of fan jubilation, Sony Pictures quickly shot this down.
Now, talking to The New York Times, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has sparked the fires of hope once again.
Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about — yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next, which I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after ‘Far From Home’. That will not be occurring this time.

The separation trauma that he is talking about refers to the fact that Marvel and Sony had briefly ended their Spider-Man relationship after the previous film, much to the disappointment of legions of outspoken fans. It is rumoured the situation was only resolved due to a phone call to Sony head Tom Rothman by a tearful Tom Holland.
While a film being in active development is no guarantee that a film will be made, this is a strong indication that we will see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU again.
