New Line are officially moving forward with a sequel to last year’s ‘Mortal Kombat’. The Simon McQuoid directed film was part of the film slate that was released simultaneously in the cinemas and HBO Max.
Jeremy Slater has been hired to write the sequel. Slater has most recent served as head writer on Marvel’s ‘Moon Knight’. He has also helped develop ‘Umbrella Academy’ and was a showrunner on ‘The Exorcist’.
Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Tadanobu Asano and Chin Han starred in the first film but there are no actors or directors currently attached the sequel.
