‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ director is rumoured to be involved with the mystery Star Wars project that is shooting this summer.

DiscussingFilm are reporting that Watts is in talks to direct at least one episode of the as yet unannounced teen centric Star Wars series that is being described as “Stranger Things in space”. While there is no confirmed information on this series it is thought to stand alone from Jon Favreau’s Mandalorian universe but be filming at the same studio.

If the reports are true then Watts would be a good fit as he has worked with young casts on all his films. This could also be an opportunity for Watts to learn how to shoot on the Volume (the cutting edge studio used by the Star Wars productions) before using it to introduce the Fantastic Four, the next Marvel film he is directing, into the MCU. This would be a similar situation to Taika Waititi and Peyton Reed directing episodes of ‘The Mandalorian’ before moving on to the next installments ‘Thor’ and ‘Ant-Man’, respectively.

There has been on official announcement from Lucasfilm but if this is happening we will most likely have it confirmed at Star Wars Celebration which is taking place at the end of May.
