Peter Ramsey, who became the first Black filmmaker to win the animated feature Oscar as co-director of ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, will be helming at least one episode of ‘Ahsoka’. The Star Wars series, which focuses on the fan favourite character, is about to go into production.

Dave Filoni, the custodian of the Ahsoka character, is writing the series and will produce alongside Jon Favreau but it is unknown what the full director lineup will be or what the episode count is. It is expected that Filoni will direct the first episode and possible more.

Details about the plot are being kept under wraps but the show will most likely pick up from the end of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ with Ahsoka searching for Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn. Rosario Dawson will return as Ahsoka and will be joined by Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker, as well as Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Ray Stevenson in unnamed roles.
