‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Axed By HBO Max

‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ was set to be a new animated interpretation of the Dark Knight coming from Bruce Timm, the creator of the acclaimed ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, with the show getting a straight to series order from HBO Max fourteen months ago.

Now the show, which was also being produced by J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves, has been abruptly dropped by the Warner Bros. Discover streamer. HBO Max has decided to position themselves as an adult male product and family friendly product has been deemed as not worth the money. Five other animated projects, which included another Batman title ‘Merry Little Batman’, were also scrapped mid production.

Fortunately this show might not share the same fate as the ‘Batgirl’ film, which can never be screened as it is a tax write off, and is available to be shopped to other companies.
