Matilda Lutz will headline the new adaptation of ‘Red Sonja’. The character was created by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith for Marvel Comics, based off of Robert E. Howard’s Red Sonya, for the ‘Conan The Barbarian’ comics and was previously adapted for the screen in 1985 with Brigitte Nielsen.
Hannah John Kamen had been attached to the role but had to step aside due to scheduling conflicts.
Wallis Day (‘Batwoman’) and Robert Sheehan (‘The Umbrella Academy’) have also joined the cast. Day will play her wicked half-sister Annisia, whilst Sheehan has been cast as Draygan.
The film is being directed by M.J. Bassett (‘Solomon Kane’) and is currently shooting in Bulgaria before moving to Greece.
