After a week of headlines, with people speculating about the direction that James Gunn and Peter Safran are going to take DC Studios, Gunn has started to layout the roadmap they are following.

Their slate of films is ready and will begin to be announced in the new year. Gunn had said that Superman would be the priority and it is looking like that will be the first film out of the gate. Gunn has revealed that he will be writing the film himself and that it will focus on the hero’s early years but won’t be an origin story. He also announced that Henry Cavill would not be part of the film due to the younger take on the character.

Cavill confirmed the news on his Instagram.

You can’t help but feel for Cavill, who became stuck in the middle of this situation, as he had been told to announce his return as Superman by the previous Warner Bros. Discovery regime following a cameo appearance at the end of ‘Black Adam’.

With this news coming on top off the cancelation of ‘Wonder Woman 3′ it looks increasingly likely that the DC Studios’ film slate will be mark the end of the so-called SnyderVerse, Zack Snyder’s underperforming take on the DC heroes.
