Matt Shakman, director of ‘WandaVision’ and the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’, is doing the rounds promoting his new Apple TV+ series ‘The Consultant’. He is also working on episodes of Apple’s Godzilla series, which is part of Legendary’s MonsterVerse, and Comicbook.com asked him about his love for the giant lizard and his experiences on the show.

Well, Godzilla first and foremost, you know, I still have my old Toho Godzilla toy with the arm that shoots off, the little tongue that comes out when you press the back of its head, from when I was a kid. I used to watch those movies with my dad and I absolutely love them. And so just the chance to film scenes where there are hundreds of people running down the street trying to escape from Godzilla. I mean, that’s definitely got to check that off the bucket list. That’s pretty awesome. So it was fun and, and you know, we were creating a lot of cool titans and monsters, some new, some old. So it’s fun. I’m excited

The show picks up after the events of Gareth Edward’s ‘Godzilla’ from 2014. The only kaiju featured in that film were Godzilla and MUTOs, which were created for the film, and others like Kong, Mothra, and King Ghidorah didn’t appear until later films in the series. Godzilla is the only one confirmed for the new show meaning we could be about to see a lot of new players enter the MonsterVerse alongside classics like Gigan, Anguirus, and Destroyah who haven’t been used yet.
