Fede Alvarez’s new ‘Alien’ film, which is a separate project to Noah Hawley’s TV series, has found its cast. Cailee Spaeny and Isabela Merced, who had already been announced, will be joined by David Jonsson (‘Industry’), Archie Renaux (‘Shadow And Bone’), Spike Fearn (‘Aftersun’) and Aileen Wu in the 20th Century Studios production.
The film, which begins production in March, is being directed by Alvarez from a script he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott, the franchises original director, will produce the film which stands alone from previous instalments and will be released on Hulu. This is the same approach taken with recent ‘Predator’ prequel, ‘Prey’.
No plot details have been released other than the new film is set on a distant colony where a group of young people finds themselves in a fight for their lives with the xenomorph. This cast is noticeable young than those in previous films with Spaeny’s role being compared to Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley in the original.
