Amazon has given a two season order to ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’. The streamer has picked it up after it was dumped by HBO Max as a cost saving measure back in August. The show, which is executive produced by J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves, had been developed by Warner Bros. Animation and they were allowed to shop the project around.
‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ was originally announced in May 2021, and is said to harken back to Bruce Timm’s 1990s ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, which stands as a benchmark for the Dark Knight’s animated storytelling. Comic book writer Ed Brubaker is among the creative team and ran a writer’s room and serves as Timm’s right hand on the 10-episode first season.
