Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria) and Dacre Montgomery (‘Stranger Things’) will star in a remake of notorious video nasty ‘Faces Of Death’ for Legendary. The original film was released in 1978 but found a second life with the growth of home video in the early ’80s.
The new film will be written by Isa Mazzei and directed by Daniel Goldhaber, the creative team behind ‘Cam’ and ‘How To Blow Up A Pipe Line’.
The 1978 film had the conceit of a pathologist exploring gruesome ways to die via footage purportedly culled from around the world. Over the years the majority of the deaths have been proven or admitted to have been faked.
The aim of the new film will be to recreate the madness but through a modern lens.
Faces of Death was one of the first viral video tapes, and we are so lucky to be able to use it as a jumping off point for this exploration of cycles of violence and the way they perpetuate themselves online.
