Linda Blair, thechild star of the original ‘The Exorcist, is set to reprise her role as Regan MacNeil in the upcoming sequel from David Gordon Green and Blumhouse. She will joining the already announced Ellen Burstyn who is also making her return as Regan’s mother Chris MacNeil.
The new sequel will be the first in a new trilogy and is a direct sequel to the original from 1973 in a similar vein to what Green did with the ‘Halloween’ franchise. It is unclear how much Blair has shot for the new film and with a Blumhouse spokesperson saying she was a consultant on the film but not denying she makes an appearance.
The new film will star Oscar nominee Leslie Odom Jr. as a father of a possessed child whose desperation leads him to track down Chris McNeil. Ann Dowd, Lidya Jewett, Jennifer Nettles, Olivia Marcum, Raphael Sbarge, and Okwui Okpokwasili co-star.
The as yet untitled film, which has completed principle photography, has a release date of 13th October.
