Netflix has order an eight episode first season of ‘Man On Fire’ based on the first two books of A.J. Quinnell’s five book series.

The first book, ‘Man On Fire’ which was published in 1980, has already been adapted twice before for the big screen, first in 1987 with Scott Glenn and Joe Pesci and then more famously in 2004 starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning with direction from Tony Scott. The four additional novels are 1992’s ‘The Perfect Kill’, 1993’s ‘The Blue Ring’, 1994’s ‘Black Horn’ and 1996’s ‘Message From Hell’.

The Netflix series tells the story of John Creasy, the lead character of all five novels, a broken ex-mercenary on a mission to avenge the death of his only friend, while protecting his fallen comrade’s daughter from the forces that destroyed her family.

Kyle Killen (‘Fear Street’) is attached to oversee the eight episodes as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Killen was the showrunner on ‘Halo’ but left at the conclusion of the first season.
