Frank Grillo has become the first new actor to sign up to the DCU. Grillo will voice the character Rick Flag Sr. in the upcoming animated series ‘Creature Commandos’. The show will be the first released by the new DC Studios run by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
James Gunn had already written all the episodes of the show, based around a group of supernatural creatures, before the new DCU was announced. According to Gunn, the animation will lead to live-action and vice versa, meaning Grillo could play Rick Flag Sr. in other projects.
Joel Kinnaman portrayed Rick Flag in the two ‘Suicide Squad’ films, the second of which was written and directed by Gunn, and there is a high chance that this was the son of Grillo’s character.
‘Creature Commandos’ will be released next year.
